Almost five years later, the line returns to terminate at Carmo and recovers three stops.

Starting this Wednesday, July 1st, the electric tram line 18 will resume its usual route between Passeio Alegre and Carmo, following the completion of works on the Porto Metro's Pink Line in the Cordoaria area, which had been disrupting service since 2021.

With this reinstatement, line 18 returns to its original route, once again terminating at Carmo. The route remains between Passeio Alegre and the Viriato stop on Rua da Restauração, with three stops being reinstated: Parada Leitão , Hospital de Santo António, and Carmo , where the line will now begin and end its service.

Between January and May of this year, line 18 transported approximately 69,000 passengers, reflecting the importance of this service in urban mobility and in connecting to some of Porto's main points of interest.

Line 18 reconnects Passeio Alegre to Carmo via its historic circular route through Hospital de Santo António, restoring a service that was interrupted in 2021 and had been temporarily limited since 2023. The return of this route restores one of the network's most emblematic connections, directly serving one of the city's most valuable heritage and tourist areas, where the Clérigos Church, the Rectorate of the University of Porto, and the Lello Bookstore are located.
