One month after the start of operations on the new Line 900 (Cordoaria – Francelos), STCP has already transported 30,000 passengers, consolidating this connection as a strategic investment in strengthening the transport network of the Porto Metropolitan Area.
Since January 12th, when the line began extending its route to Francelos, no longer terminating in Santo Ovídio, demand has doubled compared to the same period in 2025. This growth results from the operational restructuring, which integrated the operation previously provided by lines 900 and ZF into a single line.
Created to meet the need for a direct connection between the two municipalities, line 900 covers more than 50 stops along its route. Among the points with the highest number of validations are Santo Ovídio, General Torres, Valadares and Bicheiros.
The extension to Francelos reinforced the coverage of the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, now including strategic hubs such as educational establishments, the Northern Rehabilitation Center, the seafront, and important intermodal interfaces, namely General Torres, Valadares, and Avenida da República.
The new line also began operating on weekends, registering an average of 1,130 validations during weekdays, 530 on Saturdays and 425 on Sundays. Demand is most intense in the morning towards Porto and at the end of the day returning to Vila Nova de Gaia.
The growth trend is expected to consolidate in the coming months, with particular emphasis on the summer period, when the direct connection to the beaches of Gaia could boost their use.
The positive impact of the new offer on mobility in the municipalities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia demonstrates that STCP continues to invest strategically in efficient public transport solutions aligned with the real needs of the populations it serves.
