Tram Car Museum celebrates International Museum Day with a special program
The Tram Car Museum is once again joining the celebrations for International Museum Day. From May 16th to 18th (Saturday to Monday), the Museum is offering a special and free program with activities designed for all audiences.
The Tram Car Museum is once again joining the celebrations for International Museum Day. From May 16th to 18th (Saturday to Monday), the Museum is offering a special and free program with activities designed for all audiences.
"Uniting a Divided World," this edition explores the historical role of the tram and the Museum as meeting points between people, cultures, and generations.
Program May 16
The program kicks off on Friday with Museum Night between 7 pm and 11 pm. Aimed at all audiences, the evening is divided into two parts:
- The Electric Tram that United the City | 7:00 PM: a nighttime visit that invites visitors to travel back to 1895, the year the first electric vehicle appeared in Porto. The guided tour, with a theatrical component, includes a ride on the tram.
- Culture: Uniting a Divided World. The Role of Culture and Institutions | 9:00 PM: In this conversation, migrants and organizations that support diverse communities will have their voices heard, reflecting on their journeys, dreams, and challenges.
Program May 17
On May 17th, the program focuses on families with various workshops and experiences:
- Abstract Painting Workshop with Leandro Caram | 10:00 AM: a painting workshop that explores memory, emotions, and visual expression through abstraction.
- A Day in Porto | 10:00 AM: This program takes visitors on a journey to discover Porto during the Romantic period, visiting three locations connected to Romanticism.
- Fabric Painting | 3:00 PM: Painting workshop led by the artist MURA, inviting the community to participate in the artistic process.
- Through Wine Stories | 3:00 PM: This initiative features a route that traces the path between Morro da Sé and Massarelos, passing through various spaces linked to the history of wine and the city. Registration must be done at the Porto Museum .
- Imaginary Passenger | 3:30 PM: This workshop for families challenges participants to bring to life different characters from the city of Porto.
On Sundays, the Museum offers guided tours in French and English at 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM, respectively. During both tours, participants will discover the old Massarelos Thermal Power Plant, where they can learn about the past, present, and future of Porto's trams.
